Welcome Message

Welcome to our web site.  Since you are here, it can be surmised that we have something in common…an interest in trains.  Our particular Division, the Fort Pitt Division, Inc. was established in 1977, and is a non-profit organization that is part of the national Train Collector’s Association (TCA).  The TCA is headquartered and operates the Toy Train Museum and Library in Strasburg, Pennsylvania.   The TCA is one of the largest and most prestigious collecting societies in the world and its mission is to preserve an important segment of history - Tinplate Toy Trains - through research, education, community outreach, fellowship, establishment of collecting standards, and to promote the growth and enjoyment of the hobby.

As a member of TCA, you are entitled to many and diverse benefits such as free entry to not only the museum, but also access to one of the most complete train related libraries in the world in person or on-line.  Members receive four issues of The Train Collectors Quarterly, a magazine dedicated to tinplate trains and five issues of the National Headquarters News a periodical that contains listings of the various Chapter and Division meets where members may buy, sell, or trade trains, or just enjoy the fellowship of collecting, names of new members, and the "Interchange Point" where members list items they have for sale, trade, or want to buy.

Once a member of TCA, you are assigned a Division or Chapter located in your geographic area.  This allows you to experience layouts, collections, meets, events for families, and even become involved in the hobby when you may not have room for a layout. A favorite part of the organization is the friends and acquaintances that can be made over the years. The members are knowledgeable and are willing to explain and even demonstrate how to do a certain aspect of a layout, display, or even evaluate a train or set you have inherited.  Although there are other organizations or clubs that showcase trains, no club has more to offer than TCA.

Enjoy your visit, browse our site, see what you have been missing, come to one of our meets, explore the National Museum, and become a member of the largest train collecting association in the world.  Becoming a member is easily accomplished by clicking on the Join Club page within our site.  Thank you for taking the time to visit our site, and we hope to welcome you in person in the near future.

You are on the right track!
